A nicely done American folk art watercolor on paper profile portrait. The young man is wearing a blue-gray jacket and a white lacy cravat. Housed in an old gilded frame with a newer interior velvet liner. Framed size is 7 1/4 " by 7 1/4", and the sight size is 2 5/8" by 2 5/8". Excellent condition with no problems.

A beautiful and elegant double series opaque twist (DSOT) cordial glass with a honeycomb molded round funnel bowl. The stem has a 12 ply spiral band around a central lace twist. 6 11/16" tall, with a bowl diameter of 1 7/8" and a foot diameter of 2 9/16". Rough snapped pontil, superb condition.

This is a very fine Dr. Wall Worcester sparrow beak cream jug, dating from the 1765-1768 period. The pattern features brightly painted pomegranates in various stages of development. There is only one other example of this pattern recorded: a coffee cup that was theorized to have been made as a replacement for a Chinese teaset, and was offered in one of the Zorensky sales...

This is an extremely nice example of a Bow porcelain figure of winter from the "Rustic Seasons" group. It depicts an older man wearing a cowled garment, sitting on a mound of rocks, and warming his hands over a brazier. The brazier is set amidst flowers and leaves, with the whole scene raised on four scroll feet.

The piece is 6 1/2" tall, and is in overall excellent and exceptional condition. There are several minor chips to two of the leaves and a flower...

A fine multiple spiral air twist (MSAT) wine glass. The flared bell bowl surmounts a stem that has the rare feature of a vermiform collar. Conical foot with rough, snapped pontil. 6 inches in height, with a bowl diameter of 2 9/16 inches, and an extremely generous foot diameter of 3 1/8 inches. Perfect condition.

For several reasons, this is a very unusual basket. To start with a basic description, it is a very large (17" by 17" by 15 1/4"), square, covered splint basket from the Maine area, most probably made by the Penobscot Indian tribe. Many baskets of this type are of splint, colored with vegetable dyes. Some have the added design of potato stamped patterns on the splints.

This particular basket is done in vibrant tones of green, yellow, and natural brown...

A beautiful and elegant pair of coach or carriage lamps, with the original oil burners. The lamps are fashioned of brass and copper, and retain all the original features in superb condition, including the glass, caps, and holders. Measuring slightly over 16 inches in length, and 7 inches wide, the lamps could be used indoors or out, as is, stunning your guests with the warm oil flame. Alternatively, they could be electrified for either indoor or outdoor use.

A large and striking carnival gambling wheel, painted in vibrant yellow, red, black, and blue. In overall excellent condition, and has a support post and spinner. All divider nails are present. 35 inches in diameter.

A beautiful and rare Chelsea Red Anchor plate distinguished by both its raised strawberry and leaf decorations around the gently undulating border, and the central bird. Plates with such a border are known, but not common. However, almost without exception, these plates have a floral center, rather than the bird surrounded by the wonderfully colored and rendered insects that this one has. The plate is 8 inches in diameter, and has no chips, cracks, or repairs...

A beautiful and vibrant chausable set from the mid 18th century, comprised of the chausable, the maniple, the chalice cover, and mat. The deep, rich purple damask of the material is set off by the intricate embroidered orphrey on the chausable and maniple. Even the cover and mat, made of the same damask, have embroidered crosses on them, and are bordered with metallic thread. Overall condition is very good, with some scattered splits and stains.

A wonderful double sided smalt trade sign for D.M. Woodward, Doctor of Chiropractic. The gilded letters and the black smalt background are virtually intact and vibrant. The frame is original, and measures 28 3/4 inches by 14 inches by 2 inches deep. There is a small sliver out of the frame at one upper edge, and a small gap in the frame at the corner. Aside from these very minor flaws, the piece is in excellent condition.

In addition to being a wonderful piece of American folk art, this watercolor and pen and ink on paper gives some good insight into one of the courting customs of the 18th and 19th centuries...

A superb and tall Newcastle light baluster (NLB) wine glass or goblet with marriage or anniversary significance. The flared bell bowl has a trapped tear in the deep bottom. The stem features a shoulder angular knop above a slim inverted baluster knop, then a plain stem section leading to a basal ball knop above a conical foot with rough, snapped pontil.

What makes this a marriage type glass is the superb Dutch engraving, which depicts a couple toasting each other...

An elegant and superbly proportioned antique English toasting wine glass with a a drawn flared trumpet bowl atop a plain stem and conical foot; rough pontil. A beautiful, tall, and graceful glass, and quite uncommon in lead, as this one is.

7 1/8 inches tall, 2 5/8 inch bowl diameter, 3 1/8 inch foot diameter. No condition issues.

A vibrant and charming American folk art tinsel painting showing a variety of fruit and foliage in a white compote set upon a slab of marble. Wonderful condition, with a sight size of 12 inches by 15 1/4 inches, and a beautiful, non-period frame of 16 3/4 inches by 20 inches.

A superb example of one of the rarest and most sought after types of 18th c English glass, the color twist. The bell bowl sits atop a shoulder knopped stem with a white lace twist outlined in red around a central green thread. A gorgeous and perfect glass. 6 1/2 inches tall.

This type ware is often mistakenly referred to as Leeds and feather edge. In reality, many factories other than Leeds made pearlware items of this nature, and the type edge here is more properly called a molded edge. This particular plate is marked with an impressed flower on the back. It has an elaborate raised tree and floral decoration.

A beautifully proportioned and rare English glass cordial. The small bucket bowl on a long stem with a single series opaque twist comprised of 4 fine spiral gauzes, all above a high domed (helmet) foot. 6 3/8 inches in height, bowl diameter 1 3/4 inches, foot diameter 2 1/2 inches.

A wine glass with a large flared bell bowl with a solid base. The stem is of the multiple spiral air twist (MSAT) type, above a conical foot. 6 7/8 inches tall, bowl diameter 3 inches, foot diameter 2 7/8 inches. Perfect condition and the discrepancy between the bowl and foot diameters is due to the large flare of the bowl.

An English wine glass with a waisted bucket bowl above a single series air twist stem containing twin spiral cables. Conical foot. The height is 6 3/8 inches, the bowl diameter is 2 3/8 inches, and the foot diameter is 2 1/2 inches.

An attractive antique wine glass with a waisted bucket bowl above a single series air twist stem with a pair of spiral cables. The glass has a conical foot and is 6 1/4 inches tall, with a bowl diameter of 2 5/16 inches and a foot diameter of 2 5/8 inches. There is a very small invisible fill under the foot.

A double knopped multiple spiral air twist drinking glass with a round funnel bowl. Between the shoulder knop and the bowl is a plain straight section of stem which might almost qualify this glass a composite stem type. Conical foot. 6 5/16 inches in height with a bowl diameter of 1 7/8 inches and a foot diameter of 2 3/4 inches.

An absolutely wonderful and highly amusing engraved baluster glass, actually a goblet, of soda metal. The round funnel bowl, which has a beaded base, is engraved with two rabbits carrying a dog in a sedan chair...

A lovely balustroid drinking glass with a flared bell bowl on a stem with an inverted baluster knop with enclosed tear. All this above a cushion basal knop surmounting a beaded knop above a domed and folded foot. Note that balustroids with teared knops are sometimes attributed to Newcastle glass houses. The bowl has a small black slag seed.

6 1/2 inches in height, with a bowl diameter of 2 1/4 inches and a foot diameter of 2 1/2 inches.

Showing the whimsy that exemplifies good American folk art, this watercolor double portrait depicts a young man and woman who are clearly siblings. The artist achieved a starkness by having them in black clothing and not accentuating the details of their garb. In fact, the basic touches of color are only the blue in the girl's eyes and in the sky against which they are posed. Note that neither sitter is gazing directly at the viewer, nor are they looking in the same direction...

A beautiful English baluster wine glass of Kit Cat, or Kit Kat, type with a trumpet bowl containing a small tear, above a double collar, which is, in turn, above a shoulder knop, a true baluster knop, and a basal knop. Interestingly enough, a true baluster knop is one of the least common knops to be found on baluster glasses, making this a rare piece. It has a folded conical foot with a rough snapped pontil...

This banneret weather vane, found in upstate New York, is constructed of sheet and wrought iron, and has an incredible presence and visual impact. Featuring a flag with a central cut-out, scrollwork on either side of the flag, and an ornate three dimensional flower blossom at the end, it exemplifies the whimsy that one looks for in great items of folk art.

The vane has a wonderful weathered and rough brown surface, and is in overall excellent condition...

An English lead glass of balustroid form. The bowl is a rounded funnel type, while the plain stem features an annular shoulder knop. Conical folded foot with rough, snapped pontil. 6 1/4 inches in height, with a bowl diameter of 2 inches and a foot diameter of 2 3/4 inches.

An uncommon heavy baluster wine glass with a strong presence and stance. The flared bell bowl has a trapped air tear in the bottom, while the stem has an extremely large ball knop with a large tear. Conical foot with rough, snapped pontil. Height is 6 1/2 inches, with a bowl diameter of 3 inches and a foot diameter of 3 inches (not trimmed).

The overall condition is excellent, but there is a small, professionally filled chip on the foot rim, which is shown in the last picture before the filli...

An extremely fine baluster wine glass of beautiful proportions and lead composition. The flared bell bowl with an air tear in its base sits atop a stem with a medial flattened ball knop. Strong domed with rough, snapped pontil. Height 6 inches, bowl diameter 2 1/2 inches, foot diameter 3 inches. Superb condition.

A Dr. Wall period Worcester rice spoon with the Maltese Cross pattern. Applied flower to handle. Crescent mark. Excellent condition except for a minuscule nick on the rim, as shown in the fourth picture. 5 1/4 inches in length.

A rare Bow chocolate cup of slightly flared form with the painted Koto Player pattern. Interior painted with Oriental motifs. Excellent condition, with one tiny footrim chip, no cracks, or restoration. There is an in-the-making glaze disturbance on one side. Painter's number 2 on the bottom. 4 inches tall, 2 3/4 inches in diameter.

A beautiful Chaffers coffee can decorated with Chinese figures. Grooved loop handle. 2 1/2 inches tall, 2 3/8 inch diameter.

A fine little dish in what is often called Leeds feather edge. Accurately speaking, this is not a true Leeds feather edge piece, but is an English pearlware pickle leaf dish with blue edge decoration. The terms Leeds and feather edge are, unfortunately, generally misused to describe any piece of pottery with a decorated edge. What can be said about this piece is that it is of a beautiful form, with a delicate tracery of veins in its naturalistic modeling, and, contrary to virtually all dish...
