This banneret weather vane, found in upstate New York, is constructed of sheet and wrought iron, and has an incredible presence and visual impact. Featuring a flag with a central cut-out, scrollwork on either side of the flag, and an ornate three dimensional flower blossom at the end, it exemplifies the whimsy that one looks for in great items of folk art.

The vane has a wonderful weathered and rough brown surface, and is in overall excellent condition...

A scalloped top coffee cup made by the Richard Chaffers factory in Liverpool. It has a version of the Scarlet Japan pattern with panels of prunus and chrysanthemums separated by orange bands with gilding and reserved with mons. The interior also has three mons in red. The handle is of simple loop form. The cup is 2 1/2 inches tall, and 2 1/8 inches in diameter. The condition is about as close to mint as you can get, with no chips, cracks, scratches, or restoration...

An English lead glass of balustroid form. The bowl is a rounded funnel type, while the plain stem features an annular shoulder knop. Conical folded foot with rough, snapped pontil. 6 1/4 inches in height, with a bowl diameter of 2 inches and a foot diameter of 2 3/4 inches.

An extremely fine baluster wine glass of beautiful proportions and lead composition. The flared bell bowl with an air tear in its base sits atop a stem with a medial flattened ball knop. Strong domed with rough, snapped pontil. Height 6 inches, bowl diameter 2 1/2 inches, foot diameter 3 inches. Superb condition.

A Dr. Wall period Worcester rice spoon with the Maltese Cross pattern. Applied flower to handle. Crescent mark. Excellent condition except for a minuscule nick on the rim, as shown in the fourth picture. 5 1/4 inches in length.

A rare Bow chocolate cup of slightly flared form with the painted Koto Player pattern. Interior painted with Oriental motifs. Excellent condition, with one tiny footrim chip, no cracks, or restoration. There is an in-the-making glaze disturbance on one side. Accurately speaking, this is not a true Leeds feather edge piece, but is an English pearlware pickle leaf dish with blue edge decoration. The terms Leeds and feather edge are, unfortunately, generally misused to describe any piece of pottery with a decorated edge...

This extremely large 18th century Dutch glass goblet, which was made for the German market, has incredibly detailed engraving of a galleon ship and buildings, with the saying Het Well Vaaren Van Ons Vaaderland, which translates as Success to Our Homeland. The large bell bowl sits atop a 4 knopped stem which has, in sequence from the top, a flattened knop, an inverted baluster knop, an annular knop, and a half knop. A trapped tear extends the entire length of the stem...

A beautifully made and proportioned antique wine glass with a multiple spiral air twist (MSAT) stem. The cup bowl has honeycomb molding, and the stem has shoulder and medial knops. With good weight and tooling, this elegant glass stands tall at 6 1/2 inches, with a 2 9/16 inch bowl diameter and a 3 1/8 inch foot diameter. Conical foot with a rough, snapped pontil.

A beautiful pair of antique wine glasses of the light baluster form. Although these are smaller than the usual form for a Newcastle light baluster, the proportion of the pointed round funnel bowls to the stems suggests that they are, in fact, an uncommon pair of NLB's. The bowls have engraved foliate borders, each stem with a shoulder knop, a medial angular knop, and a basal true baluster knop. Gently domed folded feet with rough snapped pontils...

An antique wine glass of lead composition. This drinking glass has a drawn trumpet bowl and a stem with a trapped tear. The bowl has diamond point engraving with the names Harlord Wright and Frances Chat, followed by the Latin saying flammae felices quas mutuus exitat ardor. Loosely translated, this means How fortunate are those for whom the flames of love burn without change, a charming sentiment for what is a marriage or anniversary glass. A nice heavy glass of good color...

This shaving box is a truly wonderful and unusual piece of Americana, and was used to hold and sharpen razors. It was not a common household object, and not many survived from the 18th century. Nina Fletcher Little discusses these charming boxes in her book, Neat and Tidy, and shows a similar example.
