A rare and beautiful double series opaque twist wine glass. The bowl, of uncommon tulip form, sits atop a stem containing two heavy spiral threads around a central gauze. What makes this glass rare, aside from the bowl shape, is that, opposed to being conical, as is usually the case, the foot is domed, a feature very rarely found on opaque twist glasses.

This fine example is 6 1/8" tall, with a bowl diameter of 2 7/16", and a foot diameter of 2 5/8"...

A fine and early Worcester patty pan, painted in underglaze blue with the "Bare Tree and Speared Bird" pattern, with trailing leaf sprays on the exterior and a painter's mark on the bottom. This pattern appears to only have been used on patty pans, and is also the only other pattern, aside from the full "Mansfield" pattern, that has a "Mansfield" pattern border.

More important is that the patty pan with this pattern, uncommon in itself, was made in two forms...

An extremely nice tinsel, or foil, painting, showing a pearlescent urn overflowing with a wide variety of flowers, with a fallen rose bud at the base of the urn.

Housed in a period and probably original frame, measuring 17" by 13 1/4", the painting itself is 12" by 8 1/2". The condition of this gem is excellent.

Tinsel paintings of this type are almost a completely American form, becoming highly popular around 1870, and continuing into the mid 20th century...

A beautiful Dr. Wall First Period Worcester coffee cup and saucer in the Jabberwocky pattern, one of the most sought after polychrome patterns done by Worcester. Both the cup and saucer are fluted, placing it in the earlier period of this pattern. The color palette used includes turquoise, reds, deep blue, greens, and rich gilding. The interior border of the cup is also lavishly decorated...

A very unusual James Pennington bowl with a shaped rim. The painted scene depicts oriental buildings, with the reverse showing rockwork and a variety of odd trees. The interior rim of the bowl has a blue border with stylized flowers or fruit.

The bowl is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, paint loss, or restoration. The enamels are a deep, rich blue. The diameter is 4 3/8" and the height is 2 1/8".

A stunning Chelsea-Derby tea bowl and saucer, finely painted in puce monochrome with scattered floral sprays and sprigs, reserved on a ground of closely packed gilded spirals. The interior of the bowl is painted with a puce rose and leaves. Both pieces are marked with a gold anchor.

Condition is excellent, with no chips, cracks, or restoration. Minor gilding wear to the extreme rim edges. The height of the bowl is is 1 7/8", and the diameter is 3 1/8", while the saucer diameter is 5".

An unrecorded and possibly unique antique English composite stem wine glass. The upper portion of the drawn trumpet bowl leads into an extended plain bowl base. This is above a double series opaque twist stem, comprised of an extremely wide spiral tape outside of a pair of spiral tapes. Completing the rarity of this glass are a shoulder and medial knop...

A beautiful and tall open flame oil lamp of Facon de Venice type, probably from Liege. Showing superb proportions and elegance, the large spouted font sits atop a capstan type knop, above a hollow, squat inverted baluster knop, which in turn leads into an elongated, hollow, rib-molded inverted baluster type stem that has 3 graduated applied ruffled collars or trailings, finally ending in a basal knop above a folded foot.

The lamp is 9 5/16" tall, with a foot diameter of 4 3/8"...

A superb and true English heavy baluster goblet, having a round funnel bowl with a solid base containing a small tear. Just below the bowl the stem begins with a large, teared, triple annular knop, continuing into a teared straight section above a basal knop, all above a domed foot.

This wonderful example has a gutsy presence, standing 7 1/16" tall, with a bowl diameter of 3 1/8" and a foot diameter of 3 1/2". Excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or restoration...

A fine and rare English Georgian period wine glass rinser, beautifully engraved with an armorial crest of a crowned leopard rampant. The rinser is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, or other flaws. It has a wide polished pontil and is 3 7/8" tall and 4 7/8" in diameter.

A superbly constructed copper weathervane of a three masted barque ship. The details and accuracy of this ship vane are amazing, with its multiple sails and rigging. This fine example was previously part of the collection at the Texaco world headquarters.

The ship, on a custom made stand, is 36" long and 32" tall, with a beautiful patina, is in excellent condition, with no flaws to speak of.

This is an absolutely charming American folk art painting depicting an idyllic country scene. The work, done in oil on academy board, shows a woman with a sleeping child in the foreground, while in the central distance can be seen a group of building, above which are a richly colored sky and clouds. On the right is a small waterfall with a shepherd surrounded by sheep. The trees and foliage throughout the painting are limned in a whimsical folky style...

A fine and stately Dutch armorial wine goblet engraved with the arms of Hohenlohe. The thistle bowl of this glass shows two leopards passant within a crowned shield surrounded by fronds. A narrow band of engraving encircles the rim. The heavy bottom of the bowl has an enclosed tear, as does the huge inverted baluster knop below the bowl. This is a rare and striking folk art example of a tinsel or foil painting. The vast majority of tinsel paintings are of flowers, but this one, as does item a1175, focuses instead on fruit. This particular gem shows a rose colored glass compote with plums, cherries, strawberries, pear, etc. Colors are deep and very vibrant, and include blues, purple, orange, yellow, greens, etc.

An extremely rare triple series opaque twist (TSOT) English glass wine goblet. The capacious round funnel bowl is above a stem that has a pair of 8 ply spiral bands outside of a central solid spiral core surrounded by a spiral gauze. This configuration, with 3 distinct twists, is so uncommon that L. M. Bickerton, in his classic book, did not even address the question of triple series opaque twists.

A beautiful green English balustroid wine glass with a hollow stem. The cup bowl is over a shoulder cylinder knop which sits atop an egg knop. The stem is finished off with a true baluster knop above a high domed foot.

The glass is of lead metal, is 6 1/16 inches tall, with a bowl diameter of 2 5/16 inches and a foot diameter of 2 13/16 inches. Perfect condition with no restorations.

Note: Glasses of this type were primarily sold as export to the continental market in the 1760 - 1770 period.

The pointed round funnel bowl, which has close wrythening, flares slightly, making it almost a bell bowl, and sits atop a stem with a wrythened flattened shoulder knop and a wrythened basal knop. A rare and elegant first period Dr. Wall Worcester cream boat. This thinly potted superb example is of vertical faceted form with a double C-scroll handle with a raised thumb rest, and is painted in blue in the Prunus Root pattern. The gnarled root depicted has flowering branches trailing around the rim and small insects, the bottom with workman mark "IH".

A wine glass rinser, rare because of the deep and beautiful red color. Wine rinsers or wine washers were used to cool or rinse wine glasses between courses of meals. Red was, by far, the least common color of glass in this period because of the expense in making since gold had to be added to the molten metal to achieve the color. This is a wonderful example in excellent condition. The height is 3 3/4 inches and the diameter is 4 5/16 inches. Polished pontil.

A beautiful and extremely rare cider, or cyder, glass, featuring an elongated funnel bowl with very fine engraving of the word "cyder" and a fruiting bough with apples and leaves.
