This is a charming example of a Champion's Bristol coffee cup, of fluted form, decorated with swags of flowers and leaves. Marked on the bottom with a blue "X" and "17" painter's number. Certainly the marks add to the value of this as opposed to it being just an attributed example.

Excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or restoration. Bright colors with no losses. A not uncommon 1/4" glaze separation in the bowl interior, shown in the fifth picture at around 7 o'clock, and a minute flea-bite of no consequence on the underside of the foot rim, not visible from the side, and mentioned only in the interest of total completeness. This gem is 3" in diameter and 2" in height.

Richard Champion's Bristol porcelain was made only for a short period, c1770-1781, and is avidly sought after by collectors, but is also a very nice addition to any collection of 18th C British porcelain.
