Although these are smaller than the usual form for a Newcastle light baluster, the proportion of the pointed round funnel bowls to the stems suggests that they are, in fact, an uncommon pair of NLB's. The bowls have engraved foliate borders, each stem with a shoulder knop, a medial angular knop, and a basal true baluster knop. Gently domed folded feet with rough snapped pontils.

A wide foot with a rough snapped pontil gives this glass a wonderful stateliness. Great color, striations, and tool marks, with a real heft to the weight. An extremely rare and fine composite stem English Georgian marriage wine goblet with Dutch engraving.

The round funnel bowl features an oval cartouche with a pair of clasped hands, reaching out of clouds, in front of a blazing heart, all of this backed by rays of sunshine. The cartouche is surrounded by fulsomely engraved elaborate scrolls, foliage, and groups of flowers, all highlighted by superb polished details. The reverse of the glass is inscribed with 'T GOED SUCCES VAN 'T HOUWELYK.

A striking Newcastle Light Baluster (NLB) drinking glass, featuring a round funnel bowl finely engraved with the arms of George III. The stem has 3 knops leading into a central tear-filled knop followed by an additional 3 knops. Conical foot with rough, snapped pontil.

The glass stands a goodly 7 1/2" tall, with a bowl diameter of 3 1/8" and a foot diameter of 3 1/16". Good color and tool marks, in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs.

A beautiful green English balustroid wine glass with a hollow stem. The cup bowl is over a shoulder cylinder knop which sits atop an egg knop. The stem is finished off with a true baluster knop above a high domed foot.

A fine and beautiful balustroid type ale or large wine glass, of lead metal. The pointed round funnel bowl, which has close wrythening, flares slightly, making it almost a bell bowl, and sits atop a stem with a wrythened flattened shoulder knop and a wrythened basal knop. The stem also has close wrythening. Such a stem is often referred to as rib-twisted.

A rare and early baluster champagne glass featuring an everted lip cup bowl over a hollow inverted baluster knop. Finishing the stem is a basal knop over a high domed and folded foot. The height of this gem is 4 1/4 inches, and it has no condition issues whatsoever.

Although this type form was also made slightly later, the thinly blown dark metal strongly suggests a late 17th century date.

An extremely fine and rare friendship wine glass, or goblet, of Newcastle light baluster (NLB) type with its original cover, superbly engraved c1760 by Jacob Sang, the master engraver from Amsterdam. The flared round funnel bowl features a pair of clasped hands flanked by a pair of stylized cornucopiae and surmounted by a crown. Typical of Sang's work is the fine polished detail. Jacob Sang often used such a motif and the engraving is definitely of Sang quality, though, being unsigned, it is impossible to definitely attribute it to him.
