A nicely done miniature painting on ivory of a lovely young woman. The sitter in this portrait is wearing a pendant that appears, in my opinion and under high magnification, to be a miniature portrait. A miniature with a sitter wearing a miniature is quite rare, but please keep in mind that this is my interpretation. Whether or not the young woman is wearing a cased miniature, the painting is truly charming, and rendered with wonderful details. She has an elaborate hairdo, gold drop earrings, and a low cut dress with the bodice edged in lace. The condition of the painting is superb, with no chips, cracks, bowing or inpainting. The black lacquer frame with brass hanger, also has no condition issues. The framed size is 5" by 4", while the sight size is 2 3/4" by 2 1/4". |
