A superb example of a Dr. Wall First Period mustard pot printed with the "Fence" pattern. The cover has a flower finial with molded leaves. The height of the pot is 3 7/8" (plus the lid) and the diameter is 2 1/2".

Not much needs to be said about this piece, other than the condition is truly excellent, with no chips, cracks, paint loss, or restoration. The type mustard spoon that would be used in this pot is shown as item p1124 in this category. The last photo in this listing shows the pot with that spoon.

Provenance: This mug was part of the Frank and Harriet Burnap Collection of English Pottery and Porcelain, comprising more than 1,300 examples of slipware, delftware and stoneware, and being the most important collection of pre-industrial British pottery outside Britain. The collection, in part, was gifted to the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, MO, in the early 1950s.

Note: The example here has the less common pattern variation of the birds flying from left to right, adding to its desirability.
