An ornate and huge Bohemian antique glass goblet of baluster form. The round funnel bowl is cut all over with hexagons, the top row of which forms round arches. The elaborately worked stem contains two flattened knops, each cut with roundels, and a truncated inverted baluster knop cut with hexagons mirroring the bowl. A total of about 12 merises surround the knops.

A large and stunning Dutch engraved German goblet, probably from Hesse, a state in west central Germany, whose largest city is Frankfort. The capacious ribbed bowl is engraved with a scene of a Dutch burger, smoking a long clay pipe, standing on a cargo pier with two ships in the background. The ribbed stem is hollow, and has 6 applied strawberry prunts. Conical folded foot. Perfect condition.

An absolutely wonderful and highly amusing engraved baluster glass, actually a goblet, of soda metal. The round funnel bowl, which has a beaded base, is engraved with two rabbits carrying a dog in a sedan chair. The reverse side of the bowl says, in Old German, "Man Mus Einen Seinen Gute & Thun", which roughly translates as "You have to do good things for your enemies." Clearly the rabbits are following that advice so as to not be chased or eaten by the dog. ...click for details
